Ride N Play ProgramMore than just a riding lesson
A life-changing experience for children who need it most.
Designed especially for at-risk youth and children facing adversity, this program uses the powerful connection between horse and child to foster personal growth, emotional healing, and a sense of belonging. Horses don’t judge—they respond to presence, patience, and care. In that space, children begin to believe in themselves.
Over the course of two enriching hours, children engage in both mounted and unmounted activities. They learn to groom, saddle, and ride—but also explore horse behaviour, communication, feeding, anatomy, and even basic vet care. These lessons aren’t just about horses—they’re about life.
Through the Summer Ride N Play Program, children:
- Build confidence and self-worth
- Learn patience, empathy, and responsibility
- Develop focus and resilience
- Experience success in a supportive environment
Whether new to horses or already passionate about riding, every child is welcomed at their level. The Summer Ride N Play Program gives them the tools, the skills, and the encouragement to grow—both in and out of the arena.
Registration for the 2025 Summer Ride N Play Program is done through HSFK’s partner organizations and the Horse Sense Subsidy Program.
